Hunting/Fishing/Camping
South Sioux City and the surrounding area in northeast Nebraska offers ample opportunities for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. You'll love the hospitality of our lodging and camping facilities, they'll make your stay enjoyable.
Waterfowl hunting along the Missouri River and its marshy backwaters is some of the best Nebraska has to offer. There is good white-tailed deer hunting in the bluffs above the river and in the creek bottoms that slice through the district's grasslands and croplands. Numerous wild turkeys can be found along the river bottoms and wherever there is an abundance of timber. Pheasants and bobwhite quail can be found in the most agricultural areas. The Missouri River bluffs also support an excellent squirrel population.
Anglers in the northeast find exciting fishing action at many small farm ponds. Catfish, buffalo, carp, walleye and much more can be found in the Mighty Missouri River.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission www.ngpc.state.ne.us offers a multitude of information including licenses and regulation. Below are some of the most popular hunting/fishing areas and the opportunities they provide.
