The Barnes Bull Riding Challenge returns to the Tyson Events Center on Saturday January 13 and Sunday January 14, 2018.
Two performances of bull riding will kick-off the 2018 season in Sioux City. The action starts on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.
Contestants from coast to coast including Oregon to New York and along the I-35 route from Texas to Minnesota entered the bull riding competition in 2017. Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin represented the Badlands, Great Plains and Great Lakes region of the country. The action-packed battle of the bulls matched the toughest cowboys against the Barnes’ bull herd.
Last year John Young from Orient, Iowa rode Champagne Jam in the long go advancing to the money round. His 85-point ride of the night signed his paycheck in the short round. Iowa native, Dakota Nye a student at Tarleton State University finished second with 83 points.
The popular mutton bustin also references kids sheep riding, children’s petting zoo and western merchandise vendors will again return.
